|Practice Overview and Representative Experience:
Carol T. Stone joined the firm in October, 1981. She has more than 30 years of civil litigation experience in the state and federal courts, at the trial and appellate levels, in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia. Carol has substantial experience representing individual and corporate clients who find themselves named as defendants in litigation matters involving premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, breaches of contract and other business disputes, and professional liability (lawyers, accountants, dentists, real estate brokers/agents, and insurance brokers/agents).
Carol has defended civil litigants in more than 100 jury and non-jury trials and hundreds of procedural and dispositive motions in state and federal courts, primarily in Virginia and West Virginia. Carol has also handled bankruptcy matters, coverage issues and workers' compensation cases, to include an adversary proceeding successfully tried in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia.
Carol belongs to the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the Fairfax County Bar Association and the Counsellors. Carol served as a member of the Virginia State Bar Fifth District Committee for attorney discipline from 2002 to 2008 (Chair, 2006-2007). Carol is invited to speak at continuing legal education seminars and recently participated as a speaker on a panel at the 2012 VADA Spring Meeting of the Professional Liability Section concerning professional liability and legal malpractice claims. Carol practices in the state and federal courts in Virginia and West Virginia.
