Dwight's trial experience covers a number of areas including products liability, premises liability, medical and legal malpractice, employment law, municipal liability and toxic torts. He has tried cases in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Arkansas and West Virginia.

A partner of the firm with over 34 years before the Bar, Dwight is a veteran of over 100 jury trials. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow with the American Bar Foundation.

The Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC), named Dwight D. Murray, Partner at Jordan, Coyne & Savits, as its 2006 "Lawyer of the Year". The BADC's "Lawyer of the Year" award was established in 1950 to honor a member of the legal profession who has distinguished him or herself in the practice of law in terms of intellectual excellence, uncompromising integrity and in advancing access to justice for those outside the legal profession. Dwight has also been presented with the Lever Award for his commitment to Access to Justice and has been recognized in the Super Lawyer Magazine in 2008-2010 and The Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington, D.C.'s top lawyers.

His experience before the federal and local courts has led to his selection as a member of the local and federal judicial conferences, Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Group for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Pro Se Litigation Committee of the United States District Court and participated as a panelist on the subject of Jury Reform.

Dwight has also demonstrated his leadership in bar activities. He is the first African American to be elected president of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (estab. 1871). He has also served as President of the Counsellors, 1990, Secretary to Defense Lawyers (1981),member of the National Conference of Bar Presidents in 1996, member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association, member of the Legal Ethics Committee of the D.C. Bar, the Bar Association's Research Foundation and a member of its Board of Directors. Since, 1985, Dwight has been a Master in the William Bryant Inn of Court. Finally, Dwight has moderated panel discussions participated in by many prominent members of the national and local political landscape on matters of interest to the bar, the bench and the community.

In the teaching field, Dwight has taught Trial Tactics at Catholic University School of Law, and has lectured on trial tactics and procedures for the D. C. Bar and the Georgetown University School of Law Continual Legal Education Program.

Dwight served as a Teaching Team Member of the Harvard Law School's Winter Trial Advocacy Workshop from 2000-2009. The Trial Advocacy Workshop teaches techniques of fact presentation at trial.

Although Dwight's experience and leadership were honed in the courtrooms and boardrooms, these attributes were developed while an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam 1969-1970.
